9/22/04 Caribou Expedition 45 miles north of Shefferville Que.We flew into camp the day before. My guide put me on stand and explains the caribou will come from here or that way. He says you will hear their hooves click click like a horse. As the engine of the canoe fades I hear click click. Safty off gun... to shoulder and a big cow caribou steps out. Do I shoot...I cross hair her 3 times, no I let her go. I watch the Wiskey Jays work over a carcas {wiskey jays are like our blue jays on steroids} them a martin comes around and entertains me for about half an hour. Now an hour passes and another. Now I start thinking that was stupid what if I dont see another Caribou? I was watching this clearing in the brush and notice this moss coverd branch. Hey that wasn't there the last time I looked, then this branch swings 8 feet through the hole in the brush... WOW... He steps out 25 yds away I puts the hairs on him and bam he looks at his wound turns his head and looks at me wahoo so I gives him another. Two steps an down he goes. So much for all I heard for caribou being fragile animals. Stop by my hunting website for more pictures.
