Well we had some fun this season. That boy beat me again! He whacked a 9 pointer an I got a 5. His doe was 140# mine 120# .His fall Tom Turkey 13# mine 12#. Hey I ain't complainin...just braggin a little. ;D We finally got some snow...man was it blowin an snowin...just like we like it. When it slowed a little we went a trackin an a stalkin. The wind would whip through the hemlocks and the snow would fall out of the trees causing whiteouts. I knew they would be in the thick pines. We cut some tracks in the thick stuff an stalked them to a clearing. There they were...they were all does an Jr. was tagged out on does so I whacked the biggest one. The next morning fresh snow fell so we headed out for bear up in the state game lands close to home. We worked up a ravine where I cut bear tracks before. We got 2 miles back in and there was no bear tracks...but lots of deer tracks around the mountain laurel. We slowed down and stalked the edges of the laurel thickets and found the 9 pt'er tending a doe...I pointed him out to Jr. an he whacked him. As we stood there admiring the buck...someone shot on the adjacent mountain so I moved out into the opening and with in 2 mins. two protected bucks and a doe came thru...followed by a shooter...so I shot him. We dragged our bucks the 2 or so miles back {down hill on snow...thank God} and went to Maloneys for hot wings an beverages. We didn't get a bear...but we got some whitetails.

Just finished cuttin the last Deer. Had 3 hanging...thats enough butchering for this season. Got er Done Yesterday we got together and did our grindin...I put up 30 lbs. stuffed sweet red wine Italian sausage, 35 lbs. Yankee breakfast sausage, and 40 lbs. deer burger. A bud of mine bought out a one man butcher shop years ago. He got the good stuff. This grinder is awsome...you flick the switch on and the lights dim till she's up to speed. You could put a whole deer in nose first and hold on to the tail and it would grind it all...lol The first Sunday after rifle season closes we get together and do our grindin...you know grind a little deer...drink a little beer...grind a little deer...drink a little beer...grind a little BEER. We tell our huntin stories...listen to a little country music...catch up on stuff. It's almost as much fun as huntin. This year I came to appreciate my buds more...one of our gang came down with lung cancer and had half a lung removed.........after kemo 5 new spots showed up growing. He stopped in...didn't look so good and didn't stay long. Say a little prayer for my bud Cubby {God knows him} and do me a favor...check up on one of your buds you haven't seen in a while...give em a call...e-mail...better yet stop in on him. You will both appreciate it!
