Heres some pics from a trailcam we got this year.Having alot of fun with it so far, got just about every critter around here so far, except the coyote, it slipped by before the cam fired...but I'm working on one right now. Unfortunately these two became roadkill, both small, wardens have a pit they use to dump roadkills near my house and I hear the coyotes up there often, my girlfriend walks the dogs (4) up that road and they are funny marking where the yotes have been which is everywhere...soo I drug this little fawn off before the yotes, tied it to a tree and set the cam to see what happens. The flash isn't working on the cam right now so I'm hoping they come either evening or daytime, if it is afterdark I will know what time they came but unfortunately won't get a pic, evening, should be some coooool lighting and good pics I think. The coyotes won't touch the bear and hopefully the scent left on the fawn will distract them enough not to worry about the cam. There are also bobcats that frequent there as well, be neat to catch one or two of them as well.KPR ;D

Haven't seen her since June 6/06. The hay has been really high, the last one (deer) I saw down there all I could see was her head. They cut lastweek and did very well the round bails are many and close together, best cut I've seen in ten years and we will no doubt get a second cut this year as well. Get ya pic today if I remember when I go to check the trailcam. We are getting a bunch of rain this weekend and think they will be picking the bails up, would like to have a pic before they do. Bet you guys are glad in PA it's staying east of you guys. Getting things back to normal yet Hunter?

Little sparse at the top but picks up as it goes down..... The trailcam was set just inside the bottom left of field and my treestand is bottom right, in there about 50yds looking across the backside of the field. there is an old field down there that is starting to get grown over and they kinda yard there until just before dark and coming out to graze...course the leaves are changed and much less in the fall. We are getting poured on now...bigtime. Only had one hit at bearsite and no bear in pic, things really slowing there, I didn't want to refresh as the permit runs out on Monday and I have a video cam set on a barrel full of bread and fryer oil, cam will only take day shots and the empty pic was at 4 in the morning.....oh well can't get pics everytime I guess. The other cam for coyotes had a hit at 3am, having no flash on that one sux, they didn't touch the fawn but must have checked it out the way it is set the cam would not have fired if they weren't havin' a sniff of it.
Darn it all.....forgot to change location name...lol

Nice place for a visit.... but that was my parents intention and we ended up staying. Kinda glad we did cause I sure love the wildlife and woods. Bear bait is out and can hunt starting Sept 11, should have at least one cam up and running here soon and will keep you up to date as the pics come in. Looking for my second bear with a bow and I think it will look alot like the one stealing away with the apple....darn thief...lol

Bear hunting must be dangerous, do you guys ever get attacked or chased by these or do you tend to go for the smaller ones,And if you went hunting bears with a bow, do you also have to carry a rifle, just in case?

Myself I don't consider it all that dangerous. Some do and carry huge guns that must do alot of damage to the animal. The important part is of course "shot placement"..a hole in/through the heart/lungs is pretty devastating to anything. A broadhead tip on an arrow makes a sizeable hole. Blackbears are pretty docile although can be ugly as well and deserve respect at all times. They do hunt other animals in some parts of the country like young Caribou and moose in Newfoundland, usually they ambush them from thick cover along well used trails. Most of the problems you hear about with people come from boneheads feeding them and these ones become what they call problem bears and unfortunately are destroyed...human error..... I'm taking a five year old to watch some it should be very interesting and hopefully I will be able to catch his reaction on video when he sees his first one...it will be priceless. I have promised his mother that on that evening I will have my .270 Husqvarna with me, so I suspect this will be the evening for a hawg to come out...of course... There is another bowhunter here and we are both entering a competition we have in Nova Scotia...I'll bet he would love to have that happen...lol...I'd never hear the end of it. When I have a stand up and get some video I will post it.
Here is some pics from lastyear the bear approached the pile shortly after i was on stand and came straight for the bottom of my tree, I fired and missed and he came back almost an hr later to the minute, I figured I had missed and it was not meant to be so let him eat and leave....but he came back again...and he tasted very good.
Click on pic to start it.
I had a video but the link doesn't seem to work so here is a slideshow I did, hope you enjoy and hope your on a highspeed hookup.

Neil, I think a day at work is more dangerous than a day bear hunting.

LOL Hunter, they mix with the south mntn crows. Was in and checked my cam site yesterday, it got hit but cam was face down on ground from tree. Now, it is held on with a Python cable lock and apparently I must have put cable through backwards plus the card was reading an error, this is a differant card and the normal one was put back in until I get another one...it'll work, getting more apples today and hopefully I'll be back in time to check..took pics of me there so it's workin.....have some pics in a bit...good tracks and I'm thinkin its a shooter

Guys...sorry about the quality of this pic. It was foggy as all get out and this is grabbed from video. Hunter...I know you know about a buck like this.....checkout his browtines if ya can.... Neil this is a buck I have been chasin for almost a year now, yesterday I found him and at the end of September I will be able to hunt him again. Lastyear I would guess he went about 300lb easy, he's not quite as big as lastyear but man he is something, I trried to get better pics lastnight and had three deer come out but not this guy...grrr. Here is one of his pics from lastyear on Aug 22nd. again takin from video so it's a little poor but explains my excitement a little. All I can say is I better get him this year cause OM won't put up with me whinin about him all winter again...lol KPR ;D

Got some new pics from cam. getting frustrated with no hits at the bear site so moved it to a nieghbours basement where they feed Southern Flying Squirrels every night. Now these squirrels are said to be quite rare in our neck of the woods but I have the suspicion it is because they are nocturnal and don't have to try too hard to go unseen.

Got er done....
320lbs
If you look back at the pics from earlier in the year, the one running away with the apple in it's mouth looking back over it's left shoulder..."the Thief"...well thats him. Had a bit of a problem with my bow the first attempt if you look in this pic you will see the arrow arriving by his left back foot flights are at the base of the lefthand birchtree
That was the evening before....I thought I had messed up bigtime but he returned the next evening just about the sametime
Had my rifle then and the rest they say ... "is history"
