| This is one of my Dads many coyotes. He gets them all ways possible. Mostly trapping. I have not scored a coyote yet, but am working on it. We have several coyote pelts and they sure are nice. |

Dad uses snairs and has alot of luck. He builds them himself. He gets braded steel wire and makes a loop with a one way slip clamp. Then he finds a coyote trail {easier if there is snow} and sets the loop to the max allowed by law. The snair is secured to a tree or steak. the loop is supported by a stiff wire set at coyote head hight. This works best where the trail goes into or out of heavy cover. They already have their heads at snair level. Dad gets a good price for his coyotes...35-45 $

As an added bonus COYOTES are included with the bear and deer licenses here in New Brunswick . Leg hold traps will work but require a lot of skill and work .

I'm not a big fan of jaw traps. The snair chokes em to death guick. You come apon a live, pissed off coydog or the leg of one in a jaw trap.

The snare is the cheapest and most effective tool to use for the coyote ,once mastered it is deadly . We also have a very effective method of using a leghold trap and chain and grapple , this is done off the back od a snowmachine right in the middle of the trail . you must check them once a day but every coyote will run a snowmachine trail .We have a law that a live holding trap has to be checked every 48 hours and we don't find any legs or feet in the traps as they can take them and head for cover in the nearest thicket and get wound up . A 22 is necessary though for dispatching .
